Cine-concert The Lodger

THE LODGER (United States)
Synopsis:

One of the first films of Alfred Hitchcock, based on the story of Jack the Ripper.

When the owners Marie Ault and her husband, Arthur Chesney, receive a new tenant (Ivor Novello), they are happy: He is quiet, humble and pays the rent in advance. But his mysterious and suspicious behavior leads them to wonder if he is the killer who terrorizes blonde girls. Their daughter, Daisy, is much less concerned, her attraction to him being obvious.

As suspicion that the new tenant might not be what he seems, the tension reaches almost unbearable odds.

The Lodger, the silent film Hitchcock directed in 1927, is generally recognized as the one in which the artist found his own style: The distinct combination of death and fetishism, humor and intense tension.

The film will be accompanied musically by the artist Dubase. In 2002, he founded the Guerilla Outernational label, under which he organizes numerous parties. One of the first artists in Romania to accompany live films. The first cine-concerts he worked for were made within TIFF Cluj Napoca, where he reillustrated mute films chosen from the archives of cinema.
